The mother called Conley Funeral Home in Elburn to tell them her 17-year-old son was dead.

Michael had been found miles from his home, dumped frostbitten and bruised on Chicago's West Side. Minutes after the phone call ended, funeral director Bruce Conley was at Cathy Reinert's house.

With tears on her face, she told him, "Your kid is not supposed to die before you."

"I know," Conley whispered, hugging her.

Recalling that dark December, Reinert said: "I knew right there, this was a man who cared."

The Edward Ted"Kennedy Funeral Mass was quite a moving event. No matter what you have to say about his politics, the man was loved.

This was a semi state funeral. What really matters in life is not what we achieve but how we love others. Sound Familiar?

Here is an excerpt from the Obama Eulogy.

"We cannot know for certain how long we have here. We cannot foresee the trials or misfortunes that will test us along the way. We cannot know God's plan for us.

What we can do is to live out our lives as best we can with purpose, and love, and joy. We can use each day to show those who are closest to us how much we care about them, and treat others with the kindness and respect that we wish for ourselves. We can learn from our mistakes and grow from our failures. And we can strive at all costs to make a better world, so that someday, if we are blessed with the chance to look back on our time here, we can know that we spent it well; that we made a difference; that our fleeting presence had a lasting impact on the lives of other human beings."

I beg to differ with you President Obama, We can know God's Plan for us. But most of what you said in Senator Kennedy's eulogy is true. Now eulogies most often do not contain truth.

Senator Ted Kennedy's Funeral is underway. This is the picture from the 1st Funeral Procession to the JFK Presidential Library where he is in repose until his memorial service Friday night.

Some have raised the question as to whether Senator Kennedy deserves a Catholic Funeral because of Lack of Repentance for his  misdeeds. One Thing is for sure Senator Kennedy was a quiet Catholic or maybe not a Catholic at all.

The Pope has been silent on his death.

Senator Kennedy's leadership is questionable. Chappaquiddick?  Got off Manslaughter because he was a Kennedy?  Never apologized to Mary Jo's parents? Expelled from Harvard? His only qualification to be a US Senator was he was JFK's Brother. He had no where to go but the US Senate. Unmentionable attacks on Chief Justice Roberts? President Bush? Some questioned whether he was worthy of a Catholic Funeral!

Was he the lion of the US Senate or Just the 1000 pound gorilla in the room?

In spite of all this he passed great legislation helping millions. It is all his legacy. The highest funeral cost in the death of Senator Kennedy is the loss of the man himself.

All the man had many human frailties, he accomplished great things.

One thing is for certain His Death Brings us to the end of an era.

Sadly it needs to be noted that the baby who woke up at a funeral has died.

This was a premature baby and the little organs could not sustain life.

Even though the baby woke up at its own funeral, life could not go on.

"A baby who was found alive hours after being declared dead at a hospital in Paraguay has lost his fight for life.

Angel Salvador weighed only only 500g (17.6oz) when he was born four months prematurely last week.

The boy was declared dead by medical staff but discovered to be alive by his father when he was taken home for a funeral wake.

But medical staff said he had now died as his vital organs were not strong enough to survive."

Recently there have been reports of a baby rising from the dead. The baby woke up right before the funeral during the wake. The interesting thing is that the hospital tried to revive the baby for one hour. This story has been reported all over the world.

There was some debate as to whether this is a verifiable miracle or a just doctor error.

baby for an hour before declaring him dead.

“His pulse was so low that it was undetectable,” Aida Notario said.

According to medical records, the baby weighed only 500g (17.6oz).

The smallest on record was an American baby who weighed just 280g (10oz), born at less than 22 weeks.”

This is truly aunique way to reduce funeral cost.

Catholic Church accepts cremations|Your Funeral guy,its God'sBlog

Although the Catholic Church essentially accepted the practice of cremation in 1963, cremation has not been fully embraced by the Catholic Community. Traditions die hard and that is why many Catholics still prefer a traditional funeral.

Still the Catholic Church has said cremations can happen. And they do.

If the Catholic church had not said that cremations could happen, then they would not.

Many Catholics choose cremation for economic reasons to save on funeral costs and expenses. In most cases they are still expected to bury the ashes, or cremains. This comes from a long history of belief in Christian Burial.

In many churches however the old Catholic tradition rules. Many a Priest allows cremation and a burial but insists that a traditional funeral is the best way. The funeral director handing the funeral home a check may help.

The tragedy at Burr Oak Cemetery  is the worst in Cemetery Scandal in US History.

Community Church leaders have been quick to help with prayer and other services. The Cook County Sheriff  consulted those folks before going public with his investigation, a wise move.

Up to 300 graves were desecrated in the Scandal, Bodies were ripped apart, piled up all and discarded across a Cemetery the size of two Football fields.

 The Funeral costs to the families were high in the first place. Wounds from the death of loved ones have been ripped open and over 50,000 folks have requested assistance. It is a horror movie for the State of Illinois and the United States of America.

Three people have been arrested and the cemetery has been closed as a crime scene.

A court has appointed the head of "Catholic Cemeteries in Chicago" to help with the disaster.

"Roman Szabelski was appointed by the Circuit Court of Cook County at the request of the sheriff's department to oversee the process of digitizing burial records and putting finances in order at the Burr Oak
Cemetery in Alsip"

On July 22nd 50 religious leaders consecrated Burr Oak Cemetery.

Roman Szabelski received this prayer from his fellow Churchmen.

"Lord, touch him (Szabelski) in a special way," prayed the Rev. Steve Jones, chaplain for the Cook County Sheriff's Office, "that when the gates swing open there will be answers for the loved ones."

 In the previous post we identified the legal, money contract on funeral cost and the emotional contract as well. There is more help from this passage on Funeral Cost. Genesis 23:16 "And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver, which he and named in the audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant."

So before the assembly, and with all of them witnessing the transaction, Abraham counted [weighed] out the the money [silver] that was used at that time for the funeral contract.

Genesis 23:17 "And the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was therein, and all the borders round about, were made sure."

In the Hebrew text, the word "sure" is a legal word. This means that Abraham had a clear title to the land, bought the land with  cash of the day, paid for in front of witnesses, and it was done in writing. Abraham had the deed to the land where he buried the remains of Sarah, and Abraham knew that they would never be disturbed.

1. Pay Cash. Please do not pay for a funeral with credit. Abraham also presents a clear message; Do not Prepay a funeral.In many cases preneed contracts can add more grief.

2.Do the Funeral before witnesses. When negotiating a Funeral always do it before witnesses. Bring friends and family to the arrangement conference.

3.Understand the contract and get it in writing.This is common sense but when overcome by grief folks many times lose sight of this.

Thank you Father Abraham for helping us with this subject. I wish the funeral industry today would embrace these principles.
